The Help Cleans Up at The Screen Actors Guild Awards
The annual Screen Actor’s Guild Awards saw inspirational movie ‘The Help’ take home a string of awards.
Octavia Spencer took home ‘Best Supporting Actress’, whilst her co-star Viola Davis was awarded ‘Best Actress’. Both actresses played maids. In her acceptance speech, Spencer dedicated her award to the true maids whose story she was portraying. ‘By honouring me, you’re honouring them’.
The movie, which tells the saga of how black maids were treated during the Civil Rights era, also won ‘Best Cast Ensemble’.
The well received film is also tipped to be a big winner at the upcoming Oscar awards which will take place at the end of this month.
