BBC Blast Fashion
When you think of London Fashion week, supermodels and well established fashion designers battling it out for buyers and press attention, springs to mind. You don’t however associate it with, fresh, barely out of school 13-19 year olds showcasing their designs alongside fashion veterans. Well this was the case.
The 1 Woman/1 Man collection by Your Label, highlighting both the masculine and feminine aspects of clothing, was indeed designed by a very talented bunch of youngsters. As a part of the BBC Blast (a platform giving young people aged 13-19 experience of working in the creative industries) fashion sector, a dedicated team of six were given the chance to create a ‘fashion label’ from design right through to it’s production and marketing.
It was really amazing to see the talent of the future being given such an opportunity like this, in which they did not disappoint. The show was held at Sommerset house on the Strand, where the likes of Matthew Williamson, Luella and Paul Smith were also showing.
The feisty new girl group, The Dolly Rockers, opened the show with their upcoming single Boys will be boys before we were introduced to the collection. This was bang on trend with an exciting range of asymmetric layering, soft lines, and neutral block colours, alongside splashes of graphic floral prints.
The talented bunch of individuals are the ones to watch as there is no doubt that they will be propelled into the limelight becoming the designers of the future.
