Ne-Yo - Libra Scale
Ne-Yo comes back again with an album full of sophistication. The 10 track album shows his musical growth and dedication.
Libra Scale opens with his second single Champagne Life.
Making A Movie is about him wooing a woman, It’s not your typical man meets girl song. He compares the movie making process to getting with a woman. He calls all the shots by referring to himself as the director ‘the director is me’.
The third track Know Your Name has that sweet chill out 70s vibe. Ne-Yo shows his slight cockiness and sheer utter brilliance proved in his fourth album.
His gentleman persona makes him different from majority of the R&B male artist.
Crazy Love featuring Fabulous brilliantly captures the craziness of love.
Ne-Yo shows his versatility with Genuine Only it takes on a more acoustic style of R&B it has more of a folk sound which compliments his sweet vocals perfectly.
Michael Jackson influences can be heard throughout the album especially on Cause I Said So.
Its funky attitude and catchy sing a long chorus has that feel good factor that was prominent in the late singer’s music. It easily sounds like a song that could have been a song on MJ’s Off The Wall. Even Ne-Yo’s adlibs ,‘Oh no’ , has Michael Jackson written on it.
Singles One In A Million and Beautiful Monster are also featured on here having both had individual success in the charts.
Every song on here could be a single as they are all equally good.
The album ends with What Have I Done song about deception and heartbreak.
Having not been a Ne-Yo fan this album has defiantly converted me. Ne-Yo is a genius his metaphors and play on words shows what a great song writer he is. He shows off his vocal arrangement and has produced a masterpiece that is Libra Scale.
