Lil Wayne - I Am Not A Human Being

I Am Not A Human Being is Lil Wayne’s eighth studio album, having been recorded before his year stint in prison.

The album has more of a commercial sound compared to his previous releases.

I Am Not A Human feels more like a Young Money mix tape than a Lil Wayne album as 8 out of 12 tracks has features from different members from his clique.

The album opens with Gonorrhoea featuring Drake, it’s futuristic sound and smart play on words about haters , success and catchy chorus is a typical Lil Wayne song.

With You heavily samples Valerie Simpsons Benjie , has that classic Weezy sound. With Drake on the chorus showing off his singing ability and sweet boy rap style.

The album titled track I Am Not  A Human Being resembles the title of the song with it’s  robotic sound effects and rocky sound vaguely has some reminiscent to Beastie Boys songs. Weezy spits about being him and nothing else.

Things are taken down with I’m Single which is a laid back song mixed with sheer excellence of simplicity talks about being single for one night after a disagreement with a lover.Drake and Weezy’s story telling flow and singing work brilliantly with the beat.

Popular featuring Lil Twist, proves that Lil Wayne can ride over a pop beat. He samples his verse from previous released song Every Girl and uses it for his hook whilst Lil Twist sings the chorus and raps.

I did find myself missing the old Lil Wayne on this album but I believe that he is heading for a new musical direction which seems to be working and generating a new fan base.

However it is will be a hit for Weezy and Young Money Fans.
