N.E.R.D - Nothing
N*E*R*D is back with their fourth album Nothing. Shay Haley, Chad Hugo and Pharell Williams have produced a 14 track EP showcasing songs on issues from sex to politics.
Known for their quirky and advanced production. The talented threesomes have shown off their eclectic style and have done it once again with Nothing.
The album opens with Party People featuring T.I , it’s fast energy and cheeky lyrics are a definite dance floor hit.
Hypnotize U is a sexually charged song, its hypnotic beat and Pharel’s falsetto verses compliments the song beautifully, almost sounding like an early Prince record.
Things are slowed down with Perfect Defect has that wonderful 70s soulful sound.
The 70s seems to have been a big influence on the production of this album from the Soul Funk to Soft Rock the albums speaks volumes.
Pharel goes from rapping to singing throughout the album effortlessly whilst Chad and Shay provide a perfect soundtrack to work alongside each song.
Like A Fish is a mellow track citing the world’s creation process. It questions the world and how humans interact.
It’s In The Air has strong Jazz and Funk influences reminiscent to the ‘Isaac Hayes’ era.
The album features single ‘Hot n Fun’ featuring Nelly Furtado.
The album has something for everyone whether you like folk or rap. The talented threesomes have once again produced a classic for music lovers.
The album posses that typical N*E*R*D sound, showing that after almost 10 years releasing their own material they still got it.
Even though they started as producers they have once again shown that they are a truly multi talented group.
